Vicky Vergou is a multidisciplinary artist who draws inspiration from rural environments and the interconnectedness of nature. Her practice brings together narratives of belonging in and to the natural world, and spans drawing, painting, writing and film.

Her ongoing dedication on water has been applied to most of her work interpreting it as symbol of continuity, impermanence and movement. Water series is an ongoing project idea, inspired by Heraclitus, the philosopher of flux and change. It consists of sub-projects which explore the visual and audio language of the water, including poetic expressions of frozen moments of water’s constant movement as well as patterns of its structure and movement.

She graduated with an MA in Contemporary Art from Oxford Brookes University in 2005, having previously studied Fine Art, Cinematography and Graphic Design (BA) in Athens, Greece. She is the recipient of the Odysseus Award in video-art for the film Waterscapes in 2014, which explores structural and physical qualities of "blue spaces" and their emotional impact. In 2011 she has been awarded an Arts Council grant for the research-based art project Language Paralanguage, which explores the sound-world of the 44 official European languages.

She has participated in solo and group  exhibitions, artists residencies and film festivals in the UK and Greece for over two decades and has had collaborations with a number of international artists. She is a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece and has worked as an art teacher, videographer, drought artist, graphic designer, photographer and filmmaker.
